I have a timeshare in Stowe, Vermont, and I'll be going there in late September for the fall colors. Both these states are so beautiful that I love to do day trips to enjoy the scenery, but with some destination in mind, usually a quilt shop! A quilter friend is joining me this year, and I'd love to discover some new shops. Everyone knows about Keepsake Quilting, but which others do you recommend? I know Sunshine Carousel went to just online (I loved that shop!), but I'm sure there are other treasures out there, just waiting to be discovered!

    Many thanks!

    Barb

Have you looked in the Quilter's Travel Companion?

There's a really cute store in southern Vermont called Norton House Quilt Shop in Wilmington. If you spend $30 in there, you can go next door to the country store and get a quarter pound of fresh made fudge (wife works in the fabric shop, hubby works in the country store).

This shop is wonderful, it's in an old building, there are steps and uneven floors in it and a discount area upstairs. For a small shop, they had a ton of stuff. They have an online shop also and are a Bernina dealer.

There is a small quilt shop right in Stowe. If you take I-89 north, on Exit 12 in Williston there is Strawberry and Rhubarb. Is a cute shop near a Christmas Tree shop. A little further north in Essex, there is Yankee Pride right on Main street.

Quilted Threads in Henniker, NH. They have a fairly large store, the outside is quite deceiving, I would compare them to around Keepsake, maybe just a tad bit smaller. www.quiltedthreads.com Sign-up for their e-mails and they'll let you know when their sales are. Just had 25 FQ /$25. Some good deals.

I'm drawing a blank on the rest right now. Sorry!

Knights voted one of the top 10, and appeared in Quilt Sampler, located in Cape Neddick, ME.
I like this one more than Keepsake, the staff is awesome, well worth the trip:)

Call ahead of time if you choose from the list above. Some of these shops are closed, unfortunately.

Hey Barb, I live in Vermont! If you want to get 2gether when you're here, send me a PM.

I've been die'n to take a trip to Maine and visit the various Mardens stores. I hear it's hit or miss on their fabrics, but that several of the stores have good selections at REALLY good prices!!!!
