Default Shops Near Tryon, North Carolina?

I will be in Tryon, North Carolina in September for the World Equestrian Games and am wondering if there are any quilt shops that I absolutely need to see?

Any other touristy things to do in that area?

Thanks! Watson

No, this is the best of the best in the World...the alternate to the Olympics. I'm not fit to pick their hooves.
(Although my horse is cuter than most of theirs.)

Hi Watson- Tryon is on the NC/SC border. Depending on how much free time you have there are lots of areas to check out. Hendersonville, NC is pretty close and has 4 quilt shops and a ton of antique and thrift stores. Georgia Bonesteel used to have her quilt store in her husband's hardware store there. Her store no longer exists now, but I stopped in once years ago to meet her and shop. She wasn't there, but I purchased one of her books and she autographed it and sent it to me in Minnesota. You will be a little over an hour from Shelby, NC...that is where Leah Day is. I don't know if she is open to the public though. If you want to drive a couple hours you can go to Mary Jo's Cloth store in Gastonia, NC. There are tons of other shops in Asheville also. I lived in Asheville for two years before I moved way north to MN.... but I wasn't too much into quilting then. Have a great time. I will be in the Carolinas during that time also visiting family. Enjoy!

Watson must be at
Tyron by now. The flooding in Nc is just awful, sure hope she finds a lot of nice places to go and has a nice time, her horse is beautiful. I have been watching some of it and yes those horses are awesome! How wonderful to be able to go see the best and then go finding fun quilting places too.
