Are you planning on going to some quilt shows this year?
I'd like to. We always went to the fair when the kids were home. Does that count as a quilt show. They had lots of quilts at that time but as the years went by there weren't as many entries. I was involved in judging (not quilts) and considered that my best look at a quilt show even before it was open to the general public.

This year I was trying to arrange my visit with my daughter and granddaugher during the Long Beach show. But I had another committment. DD planned to take me to a different quilt show in California when I was visiting last year but it didn't work out wih our other plans. I also missed a show that was recently in Salt Lake. I like that particular one cause there are usually lots of quilts and the people at the sales booths are very helpful. Seems like I'm always "a day late and a dollar short" (as my mother often said). Maybe one day I'll hit it just right and find all kinds of inspiration. You never know.

I figure this post has rambled on long enough so I'll say good night and go to bed.

P.S. My typing skills are reall bad tonight. I apologize for any errors you might encouner.

I am determined to go to a "big" show this year. The Mancuso? World Quilt Show is coming to the Philadelphia PA area in September, and I plan to take a day trip there.

I think a hand-quilted wholecloth quilt from a forum member (from Germany) is part of the exhibit.

Our Garden State Quilters Guild show is in May 21 and 22, 2011 at the Mennen Arena in Morristown, NJ. I will be posting more about it as the date approaches.

I went to the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach 2 weeks ago. That's probably it until the Road To California show in January.

I plan plan to attend the Mancuso Quilt Odessy (sp) in Oaks, PA. I think the dates are Sept. 16-19.Which ever the dates, I'll be there on Sat. I need to check the dates. There is usually a shop hop in the fall. Last year it was Nov. And my sister and a few friends and I are planning a retreat weekend in Oct.

Hi everyone,

I have my train tickets and my very important ticket for the Festival of Quilts this year in Birmingham (UK). I have been every year since it started in 2003 and usually stay for the full four days but this year I am just going for one day, the Saturday.

It always falls on the same dates as our Southport Flower Show and every year my husband has to go on his own so this year I promised that I would go with him......on the one condition that I can go to the FOQ for at least one day!

I usually try and take as many pics as I can and post them if anyone would like to see them.

The dates for the show are Thurs 19th Aug to Sunday 22nd Aug inclusive and it's at the NEC in Birmingham, easily signposted off the M6 but I always find it's much easier (and less stressful) going on the train.

I'm off to make some more hexagons......

love
Doreen
