The one I have is "10-Minute Blocks" by Suzanne McNeill. I bought it from Connecting Threads. The subtitle is "3-Seam Squares for Quicker Quilts from Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes, or Yardage." Great pictures and easy to follow instructions and diagrams.

On the three-dimensional effect, I wouldn't want to leave that center piece unstitched. I sewed these down with a blanket stitch after I took those pictures. Seemed to add a little more dimension too.

These will probably become part of a small wall hanging for my sewing room.
thank you for the response. that seems like a much more reasonable way to use the the method. i just couldn't understand those little dirt-catchers that resulted when you do it the way they say to.

I've seen patterns where the center piece is stitched down "as is" to be a square. And others where the loose edge is folded and pressed inward in a curve...like a cathedral window curve...and sew down along the inside edge to make a curved center piece. Looks easier to do on a large block than a small one. That way you do have a little curved sliver that's still three-dimensional, but it's not very much.

i've seen those and they do give the 3-D effect without creating a pocket that invites dust. i'm concerned about that because my daughter was a very allergic kid who kept getting gifts that were impossible for her to use and people were always insulted that i wouldn't let her use them, even though i told them over and over again that she couldn't go near dust or other allergens. i've always been careful about what i give away and kept my cats off gift quilts. i even wash everything before gifting. whoever knows me, knows why. whoever doesn't know me well enough to know why, wouldn't get a quilt anyway.

I think I like that better than the other blocks.
How big a block did you end up with? 8" finished?
