Kudos to her! She did a great job and a handmade gift always outweighs a store-bought one. Her friend will really love it and her for making it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I agree. She did a wonderful job. She quilts better than I do! I am forty something and have just started quilting myself. So you go girl.

How wonderful & pretty!! Avianna is a true quilter, that's for sure. She must be so proud of herself, as she should be. What a Lucky friend she has to receive this beauty for her birthday. Congratulations Avianna!!

Wonderful quilt and a wonderful story! She looks so proud! I love that you forgot about the selvedges and she had to learn to how make lemonade out of lemons! Not only learned how to do applique, but how to look a problem and find a solution.

The beautiful young lady made a beautiful quilt. She will make her friend very happy, and she must be proud. A very worthy craft to learn also.

What a great job she did -- and she learned that life will throw you curves (in this case a selvage!), which you have to be creative to overcome (applique). The applique adds a nice touch to her quilt -- so that was a blessing! She looks very proud, and I'm sure her friend was thrilled!

I am impressed! My 11 yo dd isn't too fond of hand sewing the binding either! I love her quilting and the applique just pops! I bet her friend will be so happy with it!
