This year, the grandchildren are getting quilts for Christmas. Here are two for sister and little brother that I finished. Entire fabric was a "freebie" from friends.

The green kitties were 9 appliqued blocks given to me by a friend. I added the checkered sashing. Visiting a thrift store I found a pink skirt that had 8 butterflies embroidered around the hem. These, I cut out and appliqued them so the kitties are looking at them. The center block has SOPHIA'S name written by Grampa, and embroidered by me.

The puppy fabric was just a scrap - being thrown out by another friend. I fussy cut the puppies and put them together on the blue background. (Don't ask me how I did this because I don't know.) Again, Grampa wrote LANDERS' name and I embroidered it. I think they both came out so cute. What a clever Grammy they have!

What precious gifts you'll be giving to your grandchildren--and so pretty, too! Your story of how you came to have all of the bits and pieces to put these together, is really putting into action--literally-- the saying, "If life gives you scraps, make a quilt."

Fabulous. Lucky children to have a Grammy who loves them so much. I'm sure they'll be delighted.
