I think it doesn't matter what this is called...these are beautiful quilts...I applique stacking pieces and satin stitching...then one day I decided to blanket stick, then in order to have travel sewing started doing turned, I didn't know it had a different name and this method my friend and I called "cut out" design applique. And my sister who doesn't understand my love of quilts calls all quilts...brace yourself...RAGS that no one wants.
Always remember different regions of the world use different wordings to describe things. In my own family...quilts are...quilts, blankets, throws, towbels (kids word for towel backing and pieced front) and moving blankets...and the dreadful RAG.
