    2 quilts headed to great-great-grandchildren

I have selected 2 of my grandmother's hand pieced and hand quilted quilts to be sent to her great-great-granddaughters. A dear friend made labels for them indicating grandma's name and life span. I know they were made prior to the 1960's but don't know how to date them. Any suggestions? Please enjoy my family treasure.

Don't know how to date them, but you are right these are treasures. The quilts are super. You said, "2 of my grandmother's hand pieced and hand quilted quilts to be sent to her great-great-granddaughters". How many do you have? This is awesome to have something made by your Great-Great Grandmother. WHAT A PRIVILEGE this is for them to have something that she touched. You have given them a great piece of their history. Hope that they appreciate them. Thanks for sharing. BrendaK

Some times you can get them dated by the fabric. Styles change so much over the years.

The bubblegum pink makes me think at least the sashing is 1930ish. The fabrics with it may be a collection of scraps from her lifetime.

I can't help you with the dating, but I want to say how wonderful it is that these quilts are still in the family and I'm sure they will be for many, ,many more years.

I have 4 more in pristine condition and a couple more that are very well worn.
