Default My fireworks quilt won First Place & People's Choice

This was my quilt entry for the Quilt Challenge at the Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention Art Show 2013. It won First Place in the challenge and People's Choice for the whole Art Show. It's title is "Shell of Shells".

The quilt is based on a pattern by Deb Karasik. I did surface stitching with Glitter thread on all the stars, with a cut-away interfacing on the back, to support the stitching. Then with cotton batting and backing, I stitched in all the ditches then did a feather design around most of the star design. In between the feather and the star and outside the feather, I fmq lots of different designs in the black Batik background. It's 54" X 54".

Wow, that's amazing! Any chance of a close up of your quilting? It sounds fantastic. Certainly understand why it won awards! Well deserved.
