Default 4 Amigos

I finally learned how to paper piece. (Thanks for the gentle nudge QuiltE) Made a mug rug with my "learning" piece.

Then I tackled 4 patterns from Artisania. Definitely not easy for a first paper pieced quilt but sooo worth it.

It was almost as fun shopping my Halloween fabric stash as it was making the quilt.

Don't know if you can see it but I tried a little bit of "beaker" quilting.

I even designed a devil pattern for the centre but I feel he came out looking more like an evil bunny so will get his own quilt instead of joining his pals in this one.

This quilt was made to enter into a modern quilt show but was rejected very quickly. Not capital M modern nor capital Q quilting. I love it anyway and, even thought it isn't their style, it is mine.

Did QuiltE transfer you into a monster??? Just kidding !! LOVE it. Your quilt will be so delightful on Halloween night. For a beginner, you have certainly have hop out of that category with the well pieced blocks. Backing is an absolute gem !! Congratulation on a job well done !!

libby2595 - paper piecing wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Go for it, at least once.
Thank you. I learned a lot designing the devil pattern and will apply that to the next version. "The Devil Made Me Do It" will be the quilt name and it will likely have both versions of my devil friend.

ManiacQuilter2 - I am actually an influence on QuiltE. Since knowing me, she has made her first Halloween quilt and looks at Halloween fabrics quite differently than before. She is quite a persuasive lady, though.
This quilt is already up on the fireplace. Might show up at work on October 1. Thanks for the kind words. I do tend to jump in with both feet when I try something.

DebraK - thanks. I now know it is a skill I can do whenever I wish. My huge cross stitch is number one priority for the next while, though, but I do have some pp patterns I've been holding onto for a long time that I will get to eventually. That is, unless there is more nudging form QuiltE.

I agree that QuiltE is a great inspiration! Have you seen how to do paper-piecing without having to rip the paper off? Your work is wonderful! Take a look at this :

http://www.twiddletails.com/store/in...age=page&id=21 Will save you a ton of time in being able to use your "templates" many times over and not having to pick off the paper! I agree, PP is wonderful!

Very cute and great fabrics too! Your devil is very good but I have to agree that he does look like an evil bunny now that you've mentioned it.

Kitsie - Thanks. I hadn't seen that technique. Seems a little daunting but doable.
Tartan - Thanks a lot. He is definitely a devil until the evil bunny thought is planted in your brain.
Doggramma - I love the fabrics, too. I currently have over 285 Halloween different fabrics. Yes, it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed watching my Amigos come to life.
Lissa - It isn't a technique. I just took the outline of a laboratory beaker and used it as a quilt design. It seemed appropriate.
And, it seems we are all learning, no matter how long we have been at this. Never hesitate to ask. Everyone around here is quite helpful.
