    Default 54/40 For BIL

This one is a house warming gift for my brother in law. He is not really quilt-worthy so I used this as a warm up for a more intricate version of 54/40 I want to make. He loves purple and so I picked up a nice purple batik for the backing. I know that is the side he will use.

very nice, I don't know what you mean not intricate. It looks like a lot of work and very pretty. I've always wanted to make one of these. never heard it call 54/40 . . .?

The block is called “54-40 or Fight”. This one has them alternated with 9 Patch blocks.

it’s very pretty with all the bright colors against black.

Great quilt! I like the contrast of the light colors against the dark background.

Beautiful job!!! That block has been on my list for awhile, I think I'd better it made and off my list.

Guess I'd have called this a variation of Tennessee Waltz. I love how you did it scrappy with the black!
