I started this quilt for DH's cousin and his wife who are expecting their first child, a girl, in September. I love it so much that I'm thinking of keeping it. I told DH I'm going to put it in my grandbaby hope chest! :-D

I know... how mean! lol. But I have enough fabric to make another..... and I've already started the blocks.

Here are my questions:

Which do you like better as the outer border - green or yellow? (I used an extra thin strip of yellow in the pic but the actual will be the size of the green on the left).

Also, for the 2nd (gift) quilt, would it be just as well to stop after 3 rows for a square [about 46"] ? The quilt in the picture will finish around 46" x 58". And I suppose the gift quilt, since we know it's a girl, could be bordered in pink.

Anyway, I really like to get others' opinions. Lots of good eyes on this board!

Thanks!

I like the green border. It draws your eye to the edge of the quilt. It is lovely, and will be even lovelier with the border on.

The green would be my choice. What a darling quilt. I can see why you want to keep it.

Lovely fabrics and beautiful execution. I agree that the green is the right way to go -- makes this a perfect baby quilt for an unknown gender baby.

I agree that one less row would be a good idea -- I always see baby quilts as square in my mind -- I have no idea why!

not usually a fan of green but in this case, I like it the best as a border for this quilt. lovely quilt by the way.

Green won!
The color was so washed out in the first photo, I moved to another room and tried again. I think these are better.
