    Default 1869-1896 piecework

i just responded to a post about antique quilts. oh my were they ever gorgeous! before my best friend moved to georgia in june she gave me part of her family heritage. her great great (maybe one more great in there im not sure) grandmother made these out of her and her children's clothing between 1869 and 1896 when she died. i am now the proud owner of 4 of 36 blocks, and they are behind glass on my living room wall along with a sunflower picture lulu painted for me for my birthday. seeing those others i thought i would share these as well. it just floors me how precise the stitches are adn the fact that the fabric is so well preserved! i thought you might like to see them as well.

They are charming. Isn't it inspirational to see how well they sewed by hand!
