I've completed the paper piecing on mine but I didn't like the way the curved corners came out. I may rip it all out. I'm working on a mariner's compass for my center but let me say, your's is exquisite!! Nothing more beautful than that which celebrates the greatness of our country.

You need to try "paperless paper piecing." You put your design on freezer paper. Fold the paper on the line and stitch next to the line, not through the paper. When you press your seams open, the fabric sticks to the freezer paper and stays in place.

I've seen a couple of these quilted with two or three rows of parallel lines in the bars.

Thank you ALL for the very kindest of words! I wanted something unique for this auction, and when I saw the other Venice Rose quilts on this board, I knew this pattern was the 'one' for this auction. My seam ripper and I became very close through this process. I'm leaning towards dense stippling in the white triangles, with an edge to edge panto for the white boarders, and stippling around the center doughnut hole?
