I agree with the others, 9 patch and snowballs. What I really like is the chicken dish, I collect chicken dishes like that and also chicken candy dishes.

It's a thicker batting than we are accustomed to seeing and not well pressed before quilting. It may be hand quilted and there seems to be buttons in the center where the blocks come together. I have a SB and 9P waiting for binding for a prayer quilt and another on the machine being quilted. That one does look different photographed from an angle.

Well thanks so much quiltnan and grammatjr for those. I was just yesterday thinking about this pattern and wondering about color placements , and i think this post by rebbeca helped me visualize better. isnt this pattern just so different depending on how you place light and dark. I had done a googgle search and most of the quilts with this pattern use a light for the snowball. My plan was to use a dark like this, and now I am more confident my plan would work!

If you look right behind the chicken bowl, by the red leaf, you can see the nine patch and snow ball more distinctly. The quilt is beautiful.

To me it looks like a square in a square, and a 9 patch set on the diagonal. It looks more complicated than it is because of the way the cream color is used. It would actually be fairly easy to make. I love how it looks. It may be a way to use up a lot of scraps.

This is a really adorable pattern. Especially cute as a scrappy.
