It is truly beautiful. And yes it would work to reduce the size, you don't reduce the amount of work.

I too love this book and made a cut down version of Surf Song for a Christmas gift to my mother. The author, Eileen Wright, is on this board and has offered to help if someone has a question about one of her quilts. I contacted her & she helped me with the smaller version.
