Default Here is my Dear Jane Quilt Progress

Ok, I finally gave up. My hubby had a bad motorcycle accident and I have been away for a while. When I got back, the entire board has really changed, and I'm confused over all the BOM, contests, etc. I had joined a group to make the DJ early on, but of course with the accident I'm no longer on any kind of schedule.

But I sure do need the calming effects of the quilt!

So, I've decided just to start my own thread and keep track of my progress on the quilt.

My DJ will be made with repro fabrics, and I'm trying to match Jane's fabric selection as much as possible. Sometimes I use the diagram in Brenda's book, and sometimes I don't. I'm stubborn, and I like doing things my own way. More than trying to recreate Jane's quilt, I'm trying to understand what she was thinking when she made it.

I'm hand piecing the entire quilt. I know, it is crazy. I did say I was stubborn.

So, here is my first block. More to follow. I'm going to post them in the order I make them, pretty much left to right starting with the top row, with a few triangles thrown in just for jollies.

A-1, Pinwheel Gone Awry.

Does that block look wonky to you? It should. I did my own diagram of the block based on the photograph of the original block in Brenda's book. So, if you think my triangles are off, look at Jane's original block. I think she did it on purpose.

Default A-3, Hunter's Moon

The third block. I did not follow Brenda's diagram on this one. I extended the lines from the corners of the star and did the seams the same as on Jane's original block. I cut the pieces out of freezer paper and hand pieced, not applique.

Default A-4, Courtney's Stethoscope

On this block, I cut the inner square of background fabric, and appliqued the little strips on.

Thanks, I'll check it out. But I'm old and easily confused. So I may just stick with following my own schedule. I don't know yet!

I'm old too but reading thur the posts and seeing what everyone else is doing is inspiring. Plus this might be a good place to post your photos and having everyone enjoy them. Just my thought for you for today. Enjoy the journey!

Well first my thoughts to you about what you have been through with your husbands accident. It is almost one year to the day that my sisters partner of 10 years had a bad accident on a motorbike also when he and my husband were out riding so I can sympathise with you. He has had a long road to recovery last year and is walking again and being productive but still some months to being pain free. Good luck.
Very glad you found quilting again to sooth the soul. Keep up the great work and keep posting. I like how you are interpreting this quilt too.
