This is a picture of the baby/toddler quilt I helped my Mom with. It's really not as easy as it looked!

We tied it because the backing got ripped as we were sewing and, rather than give up on it, we added another layer of material on the back then tied it.

The little sweetheart is my niece Marin and she got it when she was about a year and a half(?).

Great quilt. I have been wanting to make a bisquit quilt. Was it really difficult? Great job and thanks for sharing.

So very pretty, and I like the quilt, too :D That is an awesome quilt, so puffy and fluffy and purty, it will be so nice to crawl under it on a cold winter night :D

that's a great quilt and an adorable little girl! I've made 2 biscuits quilts and they do get hard to handle because they are so heavy and bulky, good job.

I agree with Lillian! LOL Hard to pull your eyes away from the baby! I made a biscuit quilt one time years ago....out of silk! I put a flannel back on it and a gal I know bought it from me to give to her new grandbaby....well, she brought it back...guess some of the silks I used were pretty old and fell apart on her...I felt SO bad! My daughter ended up with it....she said she didn't care that it was kind of falling apart....she loved it! LOL

It seems to me that silk ALWAYS had trouble staying "together." It seems to be such an unstable fabric but is so pretty.

I love the bisquit quilt. A friend of mine, a home ec teacher, made one years ago and I thought it was wonderful but she had trouble with it, too.

    Good Job and Great baby!!

    Thank you!

My Mom was tickled to hear the comments about both the quilt AND the granddaughter. I've sent the url to my brother and SIL so they can enjoy them too. Marin is the youngest of four kids and they are ALL adorable! (Looking and personality!) :P 8)

I know Mom got the pattern from a book of baby quilt patterns. I'll try to get that name on here soon!

I found the book! It is called "PS I love you Baby collection." By Lynda
Milligan & Nancy Smith. The pattern is called "A Tisket a Tasket."

My mother says that it took her "a year & a half" to finish, but she obviously didn't work on it all the time. :D

Somehow I missed this post the other day. I love this quilt. Marin is gorgeous! I have never seen a quilt like this, that is so neat. It looks like you stuffed each square to its fullest and then sewed them together. I know you didn't but that is what it looks like. I love this.

I've made several and find them quite easy, just make the square "biscuits", cut a small slit in the back and lightly put in some fiber fill, then sew up the hole. Arrange in order you like and sew them together in rows first then all together (I use unbleached muslin for the back of the biscuits, then use a backing material for the whole quilt.

I make individual biscuits with muslin backing, cut a slit in the back and stuff them very lightly, then sew up the slit.

Next I sew them in rows, then put the rows together. Then I back the whole thing with my backing fabric,,quilt in the ditches. Not too hard and what a beautiful warm quilt when you finsih
