Default Baby's First Year Quilt

This is my first time ever attempting this kind of thing. It's for my daughter's best friend since high school. They thought they would not be able to get pregnant so adopted a wonderful boy. As seems to happen, a few years later, pregnancy did happen and they now have another wonderful son. For her long wait and double happy parenting, I was happy to make this quilt for them.

I had some problems with thread shredding and breaking and some skipped stitches and was worried my machine was messed up, but it seems to have just been the result of sewing thru some pretty thick layers, because when I went to straight stitching it was fine.

I am going to sash with kid print flannel with cornerstones made from a favorite receiving blanket she also gave me to use. The background of one block is also the receiving blanket. The navy blue backgrounds are from the Mommy Wrap she used all the time. It was pretty threadworn, but I found enough to make a few blocks. It was knit so I backed it with some iron on to make it stronger.

One outfit was too heavy for the quilt, a Santa suit, so I made a pillow with that one. Here are the blocks I made and the two that are, and will be, pillows.

Cute idea ! Would love to know how you are going to put the quilt together, quilting, backing, attaching blocks? Are you going to stipple quilt the quilt?
