Yes.... you did find the best way with this quilt.... but I know just what you mean. I also step back and look at a quilt before I quilt it, to figure out.... am I enhancing the pattern, the piecing, the fabric... or what? But you did right by this quilt... it looks great.

Charisma,

You always do such beautiful work! If you lived in the UK you would get all mine to do!

During the process I had to ask myself: "Do I focus on the eagle?" or "Do I just focus on the element of the blocks?"

Also I think at this stage in the game I think I have recognized many things about my "style" of quilting, right?
I take the pieced design into mind and try to find lines that I can follow. Or I look at the fabric and see if I can pull off any designs in the fabric. Again in this case I did both.

For the border I simply outlined the Eagle heads so they would get some dimension...in the brown areas I loosely added texture..wavy lines, wing type designs...anything to fill them in..no rhyme or reason.
The blocks I did the same design in each block which is the feathery leaf design...it reminded me of an eagle feather so I chose that for sashing as well.

I quilted this freehand on my INNOVA. I used Hobbs polydown batting.

Thanks for looking!
Another job VERY well done :):)
