Default A couple with Minky backing

A customer sent these in and asked for large meandering on one and X the square with a zig-zag border on the other.

Both of these quilts have "minkly" fabric for backing, while working on these we received another customers
with "minkly" backing.

Is this the "new thing" ? I spend so much time quilting it's hard to keep up.

Both of these have 80/20 batting, she would like to bind them herself.

I hope you enjoy the pictures and hopefully it will provide some ideas/inspiration

i don't know about it being a 'new thing', i've been using minkee on the back of quilts for about 8 years...my granddaughter's love it & always request it- other family members prefer it for throw/lap quilts and one of my bed quilts has it too.

Nice job on the quilts. Minkee is so nice and soft that lots of people want to use it. I have also heard some people complain about it shedding, though I don't know if that's a normal thing.

Those are precious! Sock monkeys just never get old! I've never used Minkee myself but I hear lots of people using it, especially for baby/kids quilts. How was it to quilt?

I guess I meant was it becoming popular ? again.

It was fine, of course there is a fine line between making sure there are no on pleats/wrinkles on the backing and stretching it to much.

That was my concern that if I over did it when I took it off the machine the backing contracting would distort the top, but it worked out OK.

Also the stitching sinks into the pile on the back so if you ever make a mistake you'll have to remove the stitching from the top, which is always my 2nd choice.

It not a very stable backing, but it can be done.

I don't prefer to use minkee, but it does turn out great. It's a little more work with pinning than I do normally. My kids all have quilts with minkee on the back and they love them. I've used them a little bit and they are so warm and cuddly.
