I would use a very light colored batik for the background. Since you have black in some of them, I would be afraid some of the pieces would fade into the background.

Beautiful fabrics....the colour palette looks fantastic....I will watch with great interest (and may I say...It looks like a tricky one).

Great shapes and fabrics!!! I would think you would need to audition several fabrics for this task. I am inclined to think of a dove grey, a greyish mild green or a light beige. Perhaps an old rose even. I want to see what you do with this. Do all the backgrounds need to be the same? Some of those shapes would do really well on black.
