A gal pal and I signed up for a scrap exchange quilt. I have never done anything like this before, and it confuses me a tad, but it's fun and here's how it works. Each participant makes 4 sets of 16 blocks. We turn them in (with a little working time) and they get doled out to each of the participants. Then, we get them back and we have 16 sets of 4 blocks, all in different colors, thus attaining a very scrappy quilt without having to have all the scraps ones self.

I have about 3/4 of my blocks done, here are half of them. More to come...

And here is a photo of the design we are doing...

Pretty! How did you determine which type of block everyone would do? I hope everyone doesn't do all the same type (like light-dominant first block)

The example pattern will look great - all kinds of movement, like storm at sea. What is the pattern name?

I don't know what the title of the quilt of the quilt is. It will have a lot of movement, as every one's blocks will be so different. Lights are hard to come by, so I suspect they will be strong to darks, my first set being the exception. Hope they blend in okay. :?

I have all my blocks done, here are some pictures of them. The photos are a better representation of the colors, not so washed out. Anyway, now I have to wait until I get the "trade" then put the quilt together. Won't be happening until sometime in early April. Too long! :(

Beautiful colors. I ahve not worked with Batiks yet but these blocks make me anxious to try. Great workmanship and colors.

They turned out lovely! I adore batiks. You have some really unique ones. I can't wait to see what you get in trade. Exciting!

I love batiks so much, I rarely work with anything else.

The "teacher" of the group has strongly urged quality of work, therefore insuring each block is exactly the same dimentions. If your block is off, she'll send it back. So there is some "quality control" within the group. I, too, am anxious to get to the final blocks so I can see what everyone else did!

I sent the pics to my friend who is doing this with me. She found it interesting that of all the batiks out there, we came up with the same center for the second blue block... :D

I got a photo of the "class" quilt, the one on display. We don't get our blocks back until some time in April. :(
