Thanks everyone! One of the fun things with this pattern - the little bars are actually 'flanges' - they're sewn down one side only so they add some dimension.

The pattern called for 10 fabrics for the bars, but I kept finding beauties that would pick out the cherry furniture in her room, a couple have teal accents. The squares end up being 16" so it actually *can* be fairly quick to put together. If life didn't keep interrupting :)
