Her machine is a one needle machine; it's a Viking sewing and embroidery machine. They just keep getting better and better. I would love to get the pattern; it's great.

Those are adorable. I just order these designs 2 days ago. For those interested, they are called Homestead by Anita Goodesign. I ordered from Erica's http://www.ericas.com/embdesigns/anitagoodesign2.htm

It is a combination of both. The block is done entirely in the hoop.
