A friend of mine and I have been trying to sell our quilts. We have a booth at a fair that is held each month in an upscale community here in our town in south FL. Here are a couple of pictures of our booth.

We've actually sold only one thing at the fair, but have had several sales otherwise. At the end of March the Beach Boys are going to be here!! They are expecting 250,000 people to pass through the fair... surely three or four will purchase SOMETHING!!! We are hoping to hand out alot of cards and sell products. We are trying to think of things to attract people to the booth to purchase and then hand out cards for future sales. We will have pillows, pillow cases, aprons, bags, bibs (maybe) etc. to sell along with our quilts.. table runners. Everyone who comes by loves our stuff but just haven't bought much yet.

You have a lot of nice items. What are your prices like. I have been trying to come up with ways to make my crafts, at least, pay for themselves.

Please let me know.

Sincerely,

Melanie Jackson

from experience... small items sell!! remember you are probably going to get alot of people travelling from far away and they may not have the room to pack anything big in their luggage....

Good luck with it!! Its a great feeling when you sell your work!

Our prices vary from item to item... our table runners can be from $15 - $50 or $60. Our lap quilts are usually $160, baby blankets from $35 on - the bags we sell for $35 for small and $45 for large. We have stockings ranging from $10 - $25. We have a set of paper (material) dolls for $35. It has a doll and several outfits in a booklet - really cute.

Thanks for the encouragement, all. I hope we can make a real go of this... those traveling, as it was stated, can fit in smaller items - and maybe ORDER larger ones to be mailed home!! :) Here's hoping!!
