My new SIL just bought this unfinished quikt at an estate sale. It is hand quilted and she has asked me if it could be finished.

The blocks around each side still need to be stiched in the ditch. I'm a hand quilter so it is no problem. But before I tell her I will do this, I would like to sound very brilliant and name the block.

I'm in a "senior moment" and cant think of it

It's the Starry Path block. II paper pieced mine.

Yikes, I made this years ago and totally forgot about it. It was for a class sample. I wonder what bag in which box I stashed it!

Beautiful quilt...according to my "Quilting and Patchwork Dictionary" it is a traditional block, the various names for it are: Interlaced Star, Laced Star, Star Path and Starry Path.

Thanks for sharing the pic. It's always so interesting to look at these quilts purchased at estate sales etc.

Anytime you need to find the name for a block, quilterscache is the source. Put it in your favorites. This won't be the only time you'll need it! Thanks for sharing your fantabulous find. I love turning green when other people find such treasures. LOL

as far as I can tell from the pix, the outside blocks are not quilted and there is no binding. I won't get to see it until we get to WA state in the spring.

All the quilting is in the ditch and I can't really tell much about the sashing. I will have to ask for more detailed pix.
