It ends up that turning the iron off instead of relying on the automatic shutoff is very good advice.

I guess the good thing is that it already fell on the floor and cracked the water tank, so instead of trying to remove it, I might just throw it away.

. Yepper I would be tossing them both too. No way to take a chance with this iron again.
