Love both of them! Can't believe you did that on a regular sewing machine. They are beautiful.

DH and I decided on a design. He helped make some card board templates and then he helped trace them onto the quilt top using crayola washable markers. Before you use those make sure you do not iron the marks and be ready to wash the quilt once it is finnished 2 or maybe 3 times to get the marks out. My 15 yr old DD and I spray basted the Calking using 5 large foldable banquet tables to lay it on.
Then she and my 13 yr old DD put safety pins all around the edge and one pin in each block. I started from the center, just puddled and worked my way out using machinger machine gloves. I set my Janome to mode 2 quilting and just sew away. I no longer drop my feed dogs and that plus aurafil 50 wt thread both in the top and bottom has has helped tremendously.

Beautiful quilts and such a good idea to make them a small one for Africa!

What a wonderful, generous gift you've made. Your color choices are grand and your work is perfection. Thanks for sharing.

Very lovely bear paw design, it came out very good. Looks so striking from a distance, seeing all the design at once!
