Jan (the gal from the bemused.typepad blog) just wrote me back. Here is the pictures she sent me.

She made the templates and added 1/4 inch. I wonder if there isn't an easier way? Even if all the blades are the same and then trimmed to a square?

Any ideas?

Hey there, DakotaMaid! Do you see the original pattern I just posted? Does that help you draft a unit where all the blades are the same, but then trimmed to the square or should I use templates?

Thanks for your help!

Found another fascinating link while trying to help you.
Sorry my EQ skills are just not up to it, I've fussed around this evening but... not happening.

Bethany Reynolds " Stack and Whack pinwheel (kalediscope...sp)" is what it looks like to me when I googled it.

What 'easier way' are you looking for? For that pattern there really is no 'fast way' to piece it together.

I want to thank you for the pattern. I have just found another quilt I want to make.

This old pattern looks like a Kansa City Star pattern. That newspaper printed a new pattern everyday. There are books of these patterns.

I have a midget block pattern called "Wheel of Fortune". The only difference I can see is the tips of the blades touch the corner QST's. It's paper pieced.
