Very pretty quilt, Lea Anne!

I really like the fabrics and colors and the way the white print triangles you used in the outer edges make the border block details stand out.

Thanks for the link back to the tutorial on my blog.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your pretty quilt with me ... Pat

You know I just thought of another cute idea. Using thread spools for the checker pieces?!

Just an idea...you could put buttons in the borders and make flowers or yo yo's with button holes so that they could be buttoned on when not in use.

Thanks for linking to the pattern, it's marvelous. I would love to make something similar to use as a picnic blanket, and make a duffel-type bag to roll it up into, with room for a bag of 'checkers' or chess pieces or even something like x's and o's for a giant game of tic-tac-toe. A novel way to keep the littles (or those of us little at heart) occupied at a picnic or reunion, parked in the shade.

Your version is beautiful. Good job!

Great idea! I thought it would be nice a quillow pattern. It would be really easy to sew a pocket on the back and add handles to the pocket, fold up the quilt along with the checker pieces, tuck inside the pocket and TADA your ready to go!

This is really nice. Thanks for sharing the link. I like the fabrics and backing you used to create the checker board quilt. I haven't played checkers in years.
peace
