This is gorgeous! Are you planning on doing a whole quilt for each of the blocks in our Prairie BOM? I think you should!

thanks, all, for the nice comments. :-)

i sleep waaaaaaaaaay too much and eat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. (since i'm not blue, i assume breathing is the one thing i do in just the right amount. )

i do most of my quilting in the wee hours before work. i get up ridiculously early so i can have a few hours of fun before trudging off to the the salt mines.

on weekends ... seriously ... my avatar says it all.

    thanks. :-)

as i starch the fabrics, i layer them in sewing order, right sides together. the number of layers depends on how many pieces i need to cut from different combinations of fabrics. i'm usually cutting through at least four layers. i limit myself to no more than 8 layers. even with a 60mm cutter, it gets too hard to cut precisely through a pile any higher than that. if i'm using shop-weight fabrics, 6 is a more sensible limit.

by layering to cut, the pieces i sew together are already matched in size and ready to run through the machine. when i'm really lucky, they "stick" together so i don't even need to line them up before they go under the foot.
