Default A Christmas Stock and the Rabbit

I have a new great nephew and I make personalized Christmas stockings for each of them. The story behind the rabbit. I made his dad an exact duplicate of this 30 years ago from the same pattern. He named it Old Joe and took it literally everywhere. It is now bruised and patched but still exists. I was very excited when I found out that the baby was a boy so that I could make him an Old Joe, Jr. I just hope he likes it as much as his dad did. Although you can't see the crystals on the stocking, they are there as well as one of young deer has a red crystal nose a la Rudolph. I used several buttons as well and the lettering and the heel are done in cork fabric. I made two stockings last year for my great-great nephews. The generations are overlapping now. Have a great holiday weekend. Oops, when I proofread it should say stocking but it won't let me change it now.

A wonderful tradition to carry on to the next generation. Can you just imagine the stories those loved rabbits could tell? Congrats on the new great nephew!

I remember making those rabbits! They were girl or boy and I made sets of them for friends. How funny to see the old pattern being used again. I am sure the little guy will love it like his dad did.

My son had a alligator named allie canoose. Long gone now.

I love that rabbit and have a rabbit theme going with my granddaughter. Can you give me the pattern information? It’s probably not available anymore but I’d like to check.

I made a dozen of those rabbits, only one of the large ones. Debating if I should put it in the yard sale tomorrow. After seeing yours, Quilter, I guess I will keep it. Gave the dozen away many years ago, as I was making them.

Love your avatar.

sallie789 That pattern is by McCall"s, number 3760. It has three bunny patterns, big bunnies, small bunnies, and a baby bunny. I hope you have good luck finding the pattern.

I made that same rabbit some 30 years ago for DGD. Dressed in a frilly red and white dress. Wonder if I still have that pattern. Have "greats" that I could make for now days! Love your stocking and your rabbit
