I made a lap quilt for my aunt, in honor of my uncle, who died on Sunday night. I try to keep some UFO lap quilts in the closet and go ahead and finish them when there is a death. I think they're more meaningful than flowers.
The last picture is a group of batiks I just ordered from Thousands of Bolts and Only 1 Nut, after I saw a post on here about a big sale. When it arrived today...my husband said, "have you been on the internet again?" Opps.....didn't sneak that package into my stash!

Quilts last longer than flowers and carry so much more meaning. What a wonderful gift for your aunt.

Thank you for sharing this idea with us. I am sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful thing to do. Yes they last forever. Do you make them in color groups so you have the loved ones favorite color? Can I steal your idea, I love it.

I love batiks too because of all the bright rich colors and patterns. And they make such lovely items.

You did a nice job on your lap quilt and what a nice idea instead of flowers. Sorry about your loss.
