Hi, I always wanted to make a Victorian style crazy quilt and today I played with some blocks using Rhonda's 'Confusion' method. It works like the 'crumb' method (tute here on the board) but you make sections and join them together rather than individual pieces. I now plan to embellish them with hand embroidery, silk ribbon, beads and so on. I used lots of different fabrics, silk, velvets as well as cotton. I stabilised the flimsier ones with lightweight Vilene (iron on interfacing, think it's called Pellon in the US). I plan to make more as time goes on but wanted to show you all the beginnings! I'll post pics as embellishments are added. Thanks for looking. :-D

I have been wanting to do something like this for awhile. They are great blocks. Thanks for the inspiration.

they look terrific K I was going to write a tute awhile back and thought it was too much like the crumb method noone would be interested so I didn't follow through. But I think it is a sister to the crumb in that it has a slightly differant look tho it is the same concept. Just my version of it I call Confusion Crazy quilting. I had an article published on it in the Crazy Quilting online magazine earlier last year.

I think yours look really terrific!! Waiting now to see the embelllishments! I did embroidery stitches on the checkbook cover I made for my mom and I like that really well. It looks more like a traditional Crazy Quilt that way.

Now to see more blocks!!

Another thing I didn't add to the quick tute I did was this is a great way to use any leftover pieces alread sewn together from other projects. If you do any strip piecing where you trim off then if the cut off strip section is at least 1 1/2" you can add them to one side of your confusion piece. And add to it and go on.

I like your crazy blocks. They'll be even better with embellishments. Nice!
