I think it is time for funky, fun and lively baby quilts and leave the pink rosebuds and blue trucks in the dirt. This quilt would tickle any modern mom and dad and grow up with the baby.Great job!
I recently made a baby quilt that was primary colors and even crayon brand fabrics in CARD trick pattern. It was wonderful and fits in with the modern couple's house.

I've heard that babies are first attracted to black and white--so you did well chosing those. I never thought that color-blindness could be an asset in chosing colors, but I can see why--he's seeing color values and not being as influenced by actual colors. Color values (light, med., dark) are also important in eye appeal in quilts.
