What gorgeous fabric. I love them all but especially that butterfly one.

I have a question that is only kind of "on topic" for this. Can someone explain why this particular block is called a disappering nine patch?? I am at a loss. However the more quilts I see done in this simple yet great block the more I am thinking I might want to make one myself. I was just wondering why D9P has that name as to me it bears no resemblance to a 9 patch but maybe I am missing some clever subtility to it.

Thanks, I have a quilt I have been wanting to do in that pattern but only have 3 so that will work perfect. Thanks so much for sharing.

well, it does start out as a 9 patch and after it is cut it dissapears! that is my thinking. I too kept looking at them and love it so this is my take on it. It is an easy one to do & with many patterns to choose from!

My thinking is 3 fabrics and it won't look scrappy, looks more planned. I like scrappy but just didn't want one this time. lol

Nice start. I've been thinking about doing more D9Ps myself.
