A gorgeous quilt - and what a thoughtful thing to do!
Thank you all for your kind comments.
I am very pleased with this flimsy (top...I met that term on this site and like it a lot). My original plan did not include the 9 patches. When I came across the UFO, I realized that the pattern could use some more color AND the 9 patches were much quicker, a definite win..win. I added the green in the 9 patches to 'pull it all together'. After I started, I realized I might have used a proper Irish chain, but that will wait for another day. Because I changed the pattern, I have a couple of heart blocks left over. I'll probably make pillowcases to go with it.
Very beautiful and cheery.
Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.
Vibrant, reminds me of Pennsylvania Dutch, looks like the applque was a lot of work. The quilting will set it off even more! I'm sure she will treasure it.
Very pretty quilt--great job!!
Love it!!! Especially the bright colors!!
Thank you. She is such a sweet child, I wish her only the best.
I guess a part of me is selfish in wanting my granddaughter to see something that reminds her of me long after I am gone.
YEA for you for finishing such a lovely quilt. Nice work and great color scheme.
Just splendid! Love the cheerful colors and design.
That is beautiful........Do you have the name of the pattern
WOW! Thats amazing.
WOW! Outstanding!
I love to encourage people to feel good about themselves. You are beautiful to God and you are beautiful to me. You were put here for a purpose and you never know how much you have touched someone elses life.
Sweet! What a lovely idea! Think I'll get started on quilts for my grandchildren as wedding gifts...years away!
Thank you all for your kind comments.
A couple of people, here and elsewhere, have asked the name of the pattern. To the best of my knowledge, it does not have one. I just took standard traditional pattern elements and played with them on my QuiltPro. I started this in about 2002 worked on it off and on for a couple of years then lost it in the bottom of a box buried WAAAAY in the back of the pile. This is one of several UFO's I decided to pull out and finish off this year. The block size is 13.5" (14" raw)
Beautiful quilt! Your DGD will love it.
hip hip hooray!! Its a wonderful quilt, love the colors, it will be wonderful when she comes of age to receive it.
Beautiful quilt...great job. Thanks for sharing.
May Everyone have a Blessed and Bountiful 2012..Teresa
I got a quilt from my gg. She made it for me as a wedding gift when I was probably 4. I was the oldest of the great grandchildren, I don't think anyone else got oneShe passed away when I was six. I am now ready to have my own grandchildren and still cherish it!
Beautiful quilt...it makes me smile to look at it. I know your DGD will cherish it when the times comes.
Your DGD will love the quilt, AND the story of how it was lovingly made!
How pretty! She'll love it, I'm sure.
