I save the threads I cut and put into my thread catcher and put into this onld onion bag and in the Spring I hang it outside and the birds use the threads to help build their nests! Talk about recycling! lol

I don't do this, but a clever idea. Thanks for sharing.

just be sure that the threads are cut into short lengths-1-1.5 inch so they don't get wrapped around the legs. I toss em in a bag and hang out in the spring also. birds love em

I love that idea. I used to teach at a school near a ravine filled with all sorts of birds. The kids would cut up wool scraps and hang them on the fence each Spring for nest building. I love this idea and am going to steal it. I now teach in a more urban setting but we could put the onion bag in a tree and the kids could watch for birds out the window. Thanks for the great idea.

Very Clever!!! I normally just brush my dogs outside and the birds use the hair in thier nests. They even build them in the wreath on my front porch. lol

Have not done that but will start. I have put out dryer lint in bag and don't seem like they got any out of it.

Yes, I do this for myself and my mom. It's fun watching the birds take the strings in the spring.
