Earlier this week, I received a large package in the mail from a friend I have never met in person. We have been internet friends for a few years, though. Inside, much to my surprise (she wouldn't tell me what she was sending, only that she wanted my address) was a completed (hand-stitched) flower garden top along with the batting and the backing.
She told me she had done it 15 years ago but discovered that she did not like quilting and could never complete it. It had been sitting in her closet all these years collecting guilt with a capital 'G'. So she told me it was mine to finish. I was speechless.
Thought I would show you how pretty it is. She matched all the plaids so that each petal of each flower is a perfect match to the others. Wow! I will hand quilt it but may not get started on it until next year. Will have my quilt guild ladies help me pin it together. It is larger than a queen size! I am still in shock!

It is a lovely top, shame that she didn't enjoy quilting. I know she will feel better knowing it will be finished.

Wow, that's beautiful!!! And so labor intensive too. I'm sure your friend is happy knowing you will appreciate it.
You sound like a good pair! :)

Cherish this gift. What a thoughtful thing for her to do. It's a win/win situation.
