Hi Misty,That is really cute. Every once in awhile I buy some old out of print magazines on ebay, some back to the 70s, & I noticed in one a "door quilt". Had never seen one till then. I am a newbie quilter myself but I guess at one time a door quilt was more popular. They are really fabulous looking & it is on my list (long list) of things I want to make for myself to go over my French door to the outside. I would think in times past it would be very useful to keep down drafts. They of course have a company that makes special lined fitted shades for that purpose now but how much more colorful and interesting to have a door quilt instead huh? Thanks for sharing yours. Well to tell you the truth I did not know there was a door quilt. It is just we live in an older house that is doing a lot of settling (I think that is what it is called) And my husband said it would cost more then the house was worth to fix the problem of air coming in the house so I came up with my own fix it . And it did help by about 15* warmer.

Hi Misty,
I did not know of a door quilt myself either, though, when you think about it it makes perfect sense. My scanner is not hooked up right now but if/when....you know how that is, it is I will try scanning in the picture & post it. It is really lovely, just like any bed size fine quilt but is about 1/3 the width. I would imagine the covering would do a good job of cutting drafts. Was a good idea, hope hubby was impressed! And here I was trying to decide what kind of new curtains i wanted to make for my BR. I have just been inspired by your idea.

Oh, great. Now I have to start all over again trying to pick the quilt patterns!!!

(Which is fine. Quilts are soooooo much more fun)

I am making one for my sewing room too. I have a window that the morning sun just pours their and I am afraid it is going to fade some of my fabric . so I am going to make one like a shade that I can pull up and down maybe like a roman shade. I also have 2 sets of curtains to make and 2 twin bed spreads.
