Actually bobbie the square is one size. I used the 24 inch square and added borders. (Sorry for the delay in answering. Life got in the way)

It was easy & it is BEAUTIFUL! I cannot wait to try this now that I know how to do it without those dang Y-seams!

you've completely lost me. A carpenter's wheel is 64 squares, most of which are half square triangles. Why would there be "in-set" squares?

Someone please explain to me what's hard about 8 rows of 8 squares? Even if most of the squares are HST.

As to why this quilt is usually so hard - the original version isn't made with squares and HST. Google the original pattern and you'll understand.
