Red face Et voilà, now it's finished.....

...and ready to be given away, the quilt my DGD Maylin and I made together.
Since we have such high temperatures at the moment in many parts of Australia, I decided not to put any wadding in the middle. Instead I used some material which was given to me some time ago (a full container of it... !!!) for the backing. It's jersey knit with a pattern and fleece lined, I thought this was enough. I was a little afraid it would pucker (first time I used this) but it went very well and I only used the normal foot, not the walking foot.
You all have a lovely week-end!!!

Here in South Louisiana, I use only a light batting. We usually have only two or three weeks of really cold weather each year-- and rarely do we have freezing temps. I get the traditional batting which is very flat but it gives a nice body to the quilt.

    The little quilt it precious!

I like the pieced binding - it really goes well with the "happy" look of the quilt.
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.

The quilt definitely looks happy, as ArtsyOne said. How wonderful that you were able to quilt with your DGD.

Very cute quilt....love that you are sewing with your grandaughter. My grandaughter, Katie, just finished her freshman
year at the University of Queensland. She was born when her parents were working there, now they live about 3 blocks from us here in Maryland. Katie is here for her winter break and has been hearing from Aussie class mates about the heat.
She is hoping for tons of snow........

I bet she is hoping for snow but we've also had some in Australia at the most awkward places this year, where it hasn't snowed for decades.... If I could zoom myself somewhere in the snow, just for a day or two, I would but otherwise if you've got to go to work, in the morning, when the car is frozen up, the roads are slippery.....no, I can do without!!!
Enjoy your grand-daughter while she's visiting and have a lovely Christmas!!!

What a precious quilt! Some little person is going to be very happy! We don't have much cold weather, either, so I always use very light batts in my quilts.
