Crystal sent me this quilt and sent mt minkee backing....and wanted a girly design because it was for her daughter.
Many of you have said you would like to know how I do some of my quilt planning. I can't give you a definitive answer on every quilt but this one was pretty clear.
At first glance I would have wanted to do something that followed the log cabin pattern..such as feathers or a design that would have gone more linear.....
But in this case...if you quilt minkee to much it changes the feeling of the minkee..and with minkee you want it to be soft and cuddly or we wouldn't spend that much money on it..right?
Plus it is for a little girl..so I used the heart and flower designs in the fabric to do an all over in the center of the quilt...squiggly line in the first border and just a simple flower border..not to take up so much quilting..so again it would be soft and cuddly.
I also use swirls to soften the linear pattern and lines in the quilt..I do that quite often...it seems pleasing to my eye.
I did this all free hand on my INNOVA not computers or pantographs.
I hope you enjoy it!
