Wednesday night I took my entries into the Fair. Judging was yesterday, with the Fair opening today.

I'm back ...... and oh my goodness, am I smiling! Some photos follow of my entries and the results.

(as a note in Canada, 1st is a Red Ribbon, Blues are 2nd and White is 3rd. I think USA blue is 1st?)

YES!! Miss Mazel placed 1st ... just as the original IRL Mazel did many years ago

This quilt got tagged with the name "This Quilt Has Spirit" when I took it to the LAQ/LQS before it was quilted. It had spirit this week, placing 1st in Longarm Quilted by another, judged on the colour, design, and piecing. While the LAQ is not judged, I'm sure it helps influence the Judge's thoughts some.

Category was "Cushion, handiwork, any medium" and mine is the printed farm panel. The back of the cushion is a railfence in coordinated fabrics, zipper closing about 6" in from the end, with the zipper covered with a barn door, of barn board type fabric. I was shocked to see another Red, as it was competing with smocked, applique, and intricate embroidered cushions.

The mate to the above pillow was entered in "Any Quilted Item (not a quilt), farm theme" and received a matching Red Ribbon. Plus, the Judges Choice Award presented for overall quality and general appeal. I'm totally confused on that, as that was against all the quilting classes, including quilts, table runners, toppers, clothing, and more!

Here's my 2nd place Christmas Tree ornament, though all you can see is the ribbon and the back of the ornament! It's a single square cathedral window style ornament with the outside being a red and metallic gold speckled fabric, and the inside of the window being a metallic gold, as is the back.. The first place was a handpainted slate piece. There were about 20 in the class.

Couldn't get a picture of my entry in Table Runners, here's one from home. A 2nd place finish!

1st "Quilt Block, Mounted" .... and many of you have made the same quilt block. Mine was the only paper pieced one in the class. I was nervous on this one, as I couldn't get all those bits and pieces of paper off. You could tell the Judge took it off it's mount and had a good look at the back.

First of All .... Take Note, this is NOT my quilt! I thought you'd like to see The Grand Champion Quilt!!!! Not sure the pattern, but would it be Civil War? I don't think Farmers Wife. All DSM quilted, mostly stitch in the ditch, or line quilted. The colours aren't showing here too true to colour, just enough zip but still a very calming appeal to it. This one will go on and represent the Fair in a Provincial competition.

WOW!! What a great showing!
The ribbons are well earned.
Congratulations.

Was this similar to a county fair? Or provincial?

Thank you!!!!! *blush*
Yes, this would likely be like your County Fairs. We don't have County Fairs as such ... ours is a large county and many of the townships and/or towns/villages have a Fair. This one is the closest to my home.
