Here's the story: I will try to make it short, LOL.... I started this T-Shirt Quilt for my boyfriend back in July 2008. From researching to preparing to buying the materials and eventually starting. Keep in mind that this is my first project in general. I never quilted before or kept up with sewing. Anyways, the first attempt I hated it (took me about a week to get the top done) so I took the whole thing apart and started again, even buying more fleece. Yes it is made with fleece. HATE IT!!! Meanwhile, it was supposed to be done by October. Then after a couple of weeks later, I started it again. Now, because I took the 1st attempt apart, I cut the blocks down shorter so that's why it looks too close to the edge. Now I hate it even more cause it looks so off. He said he didn't care, as long as it gets done. So, Oct. passed, then the holidays passed and I think you get the point. I didn't want to touch this ever again. Started it again in Feb, ran it threw the sewing machine, BIG MISTAKE, made all these sorts of markings and the thread kept jamming. Again he said, "It looks fine, just get it done".... OK I got tired of hearing that so I once again stopped!

Then we go camping in April and he wanted to show his van buds what I'm doing. By then all I needed to do was bind it. So on the way to camp I started binding, well I only got to do the top of one side, LOL. He showed them and I thought, OH GOSH, it looks so ugly. One of the other guys get his t-shirt quilt professionally done and he showed me. WOW, it was really great work, then again it was done with cotton and not fleece.

So today, on a lazy, rainy Sunday, my daughter and I watched movies all day, and I finally got up and started to finish the binding. I started around 9am and ended at 8:38pm. Yes I was keeping time... Took breaks in between but it took me forever!!! When it was done I gave it to him. He is very happy that it is done and he loves it. Now he can take it to the van show next month to show.

10 months in the making and I'm pleased. I don't like the markings that the machine made but overall, after venting on here, I am pleased that I got it done and the overall look is ok.

You are a brave soul to try a t-shirt quilt on fleece ! After saying that I think it looks good  Fleece has so much stretch in it that might be why you had so many problems :?

Congratulations on getting it done. It looks pretty good. I have not attempted a t-shirt quilt, but as sharon said, fleece is pretty stretchy and can give you "issue" I bet it is soft and warm and since he love it, you did great!!!

Wow - that's great you finished it. I wouldn't have attempted anything on fleece, but it looks good and if your boy friend is happy that's all that matters. And from the sounds of it, he loves his quilt!

Thanks everyone for the support and reading my story. He wanted fleece and he got it. I wouldn't do another fleece ever again, lol. Now I can move on...

It looks very nice and since your boyfriend sounds very happy with it, I wouldn't worry about it. That said, I think you did an excellent job with the fabrics. Quilting with fleece is very difficult and it being your first time with quilting, kudos to you for finishing it. If it had been me, it probably never would have gotten done.
