This is my first quilt, so of course I had to make a king size quilt without a pattern. I've been working on this since October. I have had to rip out more than I've put in. I've actually been working on a border for a month. The first border I made was pinwheels, but when I sewed one side on I didn't like it. So I bought a border fabric, sewed one side on and again I didn't like it. Then I made this border and I like it and am keeping it.

NOW I plan to hand quilt this danged thing. 8-)

Pretty impressive for your first quilt! Heck, it's impressive if it were your 10th quilt. You've done an excellent job with piecing and keeping things straight!! Way to go! Enjoy the quilting process. I'm hand quilting my second pieced top...first time to try that. It's time consuming but I know when I'm done it will feel like quite the accomplishment!

Oh there's mistakes aplenty in this quilt! Hopefully they are mistakes I won't make again! Yes...it may be the only quilt I handquilt, but I just wanted to do it grandma's way this one time. She died last year at 102 and I wish she knew I was doing this.

I did the same, made my first quilt a king size! It's a great introduction into a new addiction - and it can be good for you! :D
