I went from"WHY do I think I can do this?? :x " to "Maybe if I practice for another 34 hours.... " to "this is kind of fun :D ."

I quilted just outside the pictures for the most part, then tried a few right on the line. I did some curly cues between a few animals. The first border has a wave thingy to go with the ocean theme, then I really wanted to try meandering so did that on the very outside pictures.

This will be a big pillow case for my daughter--the Bio major. :D

Any suggestions to improve? I'll practice some more....

The owner of the quilt shop where my barn quilt is gave me the idea to practice on a "cheater quilt" as she calls it. I showed Rachel the fabric before I started and she loved it--thinks it'll need a big pillow though. We'll make it fit something.

My meandering looks choppy rather than flowing, but I'll get it sooner or later. I like the wave--once in a while I'd lose the motion so I ripped one small part out then kept saying to myself "Up. swoop down, up, swoop down.... it's the swoop I'd lose.

I want to find another printed piece!

For what I do meandering is almost always an acceptable pattern, so my goal is to do small stuff on my own. To me the quilting is there to hold the sandwich together, not to be an art in itself. I'll leave that to the experts.

I think you're brave to even try! I can do straight-line machine quilting fairly well now (OK, fairly well compared to what it used to be), but the free motion stuff still has me stumped. Always looks like a drunker kindergartener did it! Yours looks fantastic--good job!
