Oh My! They are gorgeous!! Is that needle turn applique? I could'nt make 1 in 3 months let alone 2. They are beautiful!!!

no, it is not needle turn- they are machine appliqued and machine quilted (also, recipient's request) she figured machine would be (faster) and cost less--true on both accounts. she had first seen pictures of my wool backyard gathering quilt which was hand appliqued- loved it but wanted something in cottons, done by machine and she wanted 2 which were similar to each other- same fabrics * turkey red, olive green, gold and white* , simplified- not as (involved) as the wool one had been- so these are what I came up with. they are heading her way today.

For not being your cup of tea they came out beautifully. Can you elaborate the source of the applique patterns and the technique? I see you said machine applique but are they raw edge fused or prepared with a seam allowance turned under and if turned under what technique did you use? I am really getting into turned under applique (not raw edge fused) and like to explore all my options.
