WoW! Great job! Love the red and white aspect a lot!

Congrats -- I can't imagine one much less two!

most of the blocks are identical but I did change things up a little bit in how I cut the pieces. Also the way I did them is somewhat different - I did more applique and reverse applique on this second one then I did on the first - live and learn - I did this second one in 2 years and 8 months (382 hours) while the first one took 3 years and 3 months (490 hours)
The only reason it took so many years to complete is because I am constantly working on other projects at the same time.
Anyone can do a Dear Jane - just do not expect to do it in a flash! :)
The first Dear Jane I did I called "Insanity" so only appropriate that this one is "Insanity Revisited" and no there won't be a 3rd - 2 is enough for anyone!

i've looked at the book & found it WAY overwhelming, so my hat is definitely off to you!

do you favor one more than the other and WHY?

what is a Dear Jane - it is a replica of a quilt made in 1864. It is comprised of 169 different 4 1/2 inch blocks - each different from the other. There are also 52 pieced triangles in it and 4 corners- again all different from each other. Some of these blocks have over 40 pieces in them, some of the corners have over 70 pieces in them. The book comes with the patterns but no instructions - you figure it out yourself. A lot of people hand piece these as the original was and a lot of us hand quilt them also - why make it - because of the challenge I guess

Right now I do not know if I favor one over the other - I love all the multitude of colors I used in the scrappy first version - but yet I love the two way color combine of the red batik I used with the buttercream batik
